History of Promin Entertainment Center
The history of cinema in Lutsk runs deep, spanning over a century. The first film screenings in the city took place even before World War I, and by the early 20th century, a permanent cinema was established in the city center, quickly becoming a popular leisure destination for locals.
During the interwar period, the cinema, known as “Illusion”, operated in the city center and served as an important cultural hub where residents could experience the latest achievements in global cinema. Over time, Lutsk’s cinematic space continued to evolve and modernize, remaining a key part of the city’s cultural life.
In the second half of the 20th century, the building was reconstructed and transformed into the Promin Cinema Center, becoming one of Lutsk’s main cultural venues. It hosted premieres, themed screenings, festivals, creative meetups, and performances by renowned Ukrainian artists and musical groups. Promin became, and continues to be, a gathering place for multiple generations.
At the beginning of the 21st century, during the rise of digital technologies, film screenings were temporarily suspended. A new chapter in Promin’s history began in 2016, when, after a major reconstruction, the building reopened as a modern multifunctional entertainment center featuring a Multiplex cinema.
Today, Promin is a prime example of successfully modernized architecture adapted to the needs of the 21st century. Located in the heart of Lutsk on Hrushevskoho Avenue, it combines cinema, gastronomy, entertainment, and city events, preserving its cultural heritage while embracing new formats of leisure.
The former Promin Cinema remains one of Lutsk’s most iconic buildings. Today, the space continues to thrive, evolve, and remain an integral part of the city’s cultural life.
